Business is often presented as a fair competition where the best and hardest-working win. Reality, however, is different. The game is not played by the same rules. In his article for Heroine, Kryštof Hanzal explains that business does not follow the principles we are used to from the traditional working world.

Business is not unfair because it is inherently unjust. Performance is not a direct path to results, mistakes do not mean the end, and success often depends on factors we cannot fully control.

Many people, and very often women, enter business believing that if they are prepared, honest and hardworking, results will follow. When they do not, they tend to look for the fault in themselves. Yet the issue often lies not in a lack of ability, but in invisible rules of the game, external expectations and unequal starting positions.

The article shows that understanding the true nature of business is the first step towards navigating it more consciously, strategically and with less self-imposed pressure. It is not about giving up ambition, but about learning to play the game as it really is.
