Recognizing the inevitable influence of artificial intelligence (AI) and computer games on our future, we proudly collaborated with the Game Developers Session Prague 2023 conference. This event drew industry luminaries from across the globe to the Czech Republic, emphasising the  colossal impact of an industry valued at hundreds of billions of dollars worldwide.

In the Czech Republic alone, the gaming industry is projected to generate nearly 7.5 billion in 2022, providing employment for approximately 2,000 skilled individuals and creating around 300 new positions annually. If a career in the virtual world beckons you, seize the opportunity, especially considering the Czech Republic's remarkable global standing, with our games consistently ranking among the top 10.

Our Chancellor, deeply engrossed in the realms of AI and gaming, took the stage as one of the distinguished speakers at the event. Ondřej Nádvorník, an MBA graduate from our institution, also shared insights at the conference through an engaging workshop titled "Unlock the Power of Indie Game Marketing."

Now, a glimpse into the event itself. GDS Prague stands as the largest and oldest conference of its kind in Central Europe, celebrating its 21st edition this year in the Congress Centre. The event showcased Czech and international companies, both novice and seasoned developers, and an array of games, including educational ones. Notable figures like Alexey Pajitnov, the creator of the iconic Tetris, Rhianna Pratchett, co-author of Tomb Raider, and Brian Fargo, head of inXile studio (developers of the legendary Fallout), were among the distinguished personalities. Interestingly, Fallout happens to be the favourite game of our Chancellor, who also immersed herself in the virtual reality experience of Beat Saber at the conference.

In her presentation, Anna Plechatá Krausová delved into the integration of artificial intelligence in education and the intersection of NEWTON graduates with the gaming industry. She envisions their applications extending to fields such as marketing and management. The introduction of this article features an image of Isaac Newton, created collaboratively by Anna and AI, highlighting the fascinating possibilities AI presents. NEWTON, under her leadership, embraces a forward-thinking stance in this realm. The Chancellor publicly asserts that introducing AI into education is not a mere choice but a necessity. This paradigm shift is evident in her approach to theses, emphasising increasing originality, the author's personal contribution, and access to information. Anna further illustrated this shift with a concrete example — simulating a conversation with the historical figure Niccolò Machiavelli. And this, as she emphasises, is just the beginning!

Better Mind, Better Brno – a new dimension of leadership

The second edition of Better Mind in Brno confirmed that mental wellbeing is becoming one of the key themes in modern education and leadership. This year’s event offered practical techniques, inspiration, and honest reflections on what it means to handle pressure, seek balance, and lead in a world where our mind is our most important tool. The article is based on conversations with the organisers, Ondřej Nádvorník and Sandra Keyzlarová.

I came to NEWTON University thanks to what is now, quite literally, family. We’re very much a NEWTON Family in every sense of the word. My husband studied here, his sister and her husband did as well, and she even worked at NU. Their experience — and especially the fact that NEWTON is completely different from traditional universities in its approach, atmosphere and focus on practical learning — convinced me it was the right choice.

Not Just Bouncing Back: Connecting Systemic and Individual Resilience in a Changing World

This spring, I had the opportunity to speak at the Smart Zero City 2025 conference in Taiwan, organised by Yuan Ze University and chaired by Professor Miko Yu — a gathering of experts, innovators, and city leaders exploring how to future-proof urban life. We heard about digital infrastructure, green energy, and smart transport systems.
