Artificial intelligence can produce a convincing text within seconds. Yet polished language is no guarantee of accurate information. Daria Hvížďalová, guarantor of the MBA AI Transformation programme at NEWTON University, therefore considers critical thinking one of today’s most important skills.

At school, we learnt to look for the correct answers in textbooks. Far less attention was devoted to recognising flaws in our own tools or judgement. According to Daria Hvížďalová, the rise of generative artificial intelligence has made this shortcoming impossible to overlook.

AI can generate confident-sounding content faster than people can question it. Companies are encountering the same problem, as employees may trust an output because it looks polished and complete, rather than because they have verified its accuracy.

This is why Daria Hvížďalová introduced a course on critical thinking in the age of AI into the MBA AI Transformation curriculum at NEWTON University. In Hrot magazine’s regular feature “Four Things You Definitely Won’t Learn at School”, she explains why we must learn to question both technological outputs and our own judgement.
