Here is a brief recap of the highlights. We hope you won't miss any of the upcoming lectures either.

A Year of Accounting and Tax Expertise in 2025

Summer Semester 2025

A Day in the Life of a Tax Adviser with Pavlína Žukovská

In March, we were delighted to welcome tax adviser Pavlína Žukovská. Her lecture, A Day in the Life of a Tax Adviser, offered a fresh and engaging perspective, quickly drawing everyone in.

What was it about? The day-to-day realities of working as a tax adviser, client relationships, communication with the tax authorities, and the importance of building strong professional partnerships.

Students also became familiar with a few humorous pieces of professional jargon and insider expressions that made the session even more memorable.

Employee Benefits with Jan Bonaventura

Our second guest in March was tax adviser Jan Bonaventura. His lecture on employee remuneration was exceptionally well received, sparking lively discussions throughout the session.

Topics included employee compensation, benefits, tax optimisation, and different forms of employment. Naturally, the Czech "Švarc system" (bogus self-employment) was also part of the discussion.

International Taxation with Danuše Nerudová

In April, we welcomed Professor Danuše Nerudová, who delivered a lecture on international taxation.

The session focused on the practical application of double taxation treaties, one of the more challenging areas of international tax practice.

Students explored tax residency, tax security, permanent establishments, construction and installation projects, and gained insights into treaty negotiations involving the Baltic and Nordic countries. The lecture also covered specific tax issues relating to India, the Caribbean, and several African countries.

Value Added Tax with Denisa Doležalová

The summer semester concluded in May with a lecture by our alumna Denisa Doležalová from the Financial Office for the South Moravian Region.

During her presentation, students learned how tax authorities detect suspicious activities, how VAT carousel fraud operates, and the measures used to combat this type of tax evasion.

Winter Semester 2025

Taxathlon Accounting and Tax Competition at Sting University College

In October (qualifying round) and November (finals held at NEWTON University), our students took part in the nationwide Taxathlon competition.

Competing against teams from universities across the Czech Republic, our five-member team achieved an excellent 11th place.

Company Liquidation from an Accountant's Perspective with Ladislav Čížek

December's lecture by auditor Ladislav Čížek connected the worlds of accounting, taxation, and auditing.

Students learned when accountants begin considering the liquidation of a company (every year, as it turns out), what the accounting concept of the "foreseeable future" means, how to deal with issues identified after the end of an accounting period, the difference between ceasing business activities and dissolving an accounting entity, and why gaining experience in advisory firms can be invaluable.

Modern Accounting Practice with Účetní v sukni

The winter semester concluded with a lecture delivered by the team from Účetní v sukni ("Accountants in Skirts").

In the first part of the session, Jitka Zelená and Kateřina Frýbová compared the advantages and disadvantages of various accounting software solutions.

The second part focused on artificial intelligence and its growing role in day-to-day accounting and tax advisory services.

Following the break, Lenka Černá and Martin Hošek, creator of the LiCast podcast, demonstrated how an accounting firm can use LinkedIn creatively and effectively as a marketing tool.

Digitalising Accounting Will Remain a Key Topic in 2026

At Sting , Digitalisation of Accounting is also offered as a standalone course.

During the upcoming summer semester, we will welcome Petr Pilin, Pavel Löffler, Martin Tyšer, and Jiří Hošek together with Martin Plachý as guest speakers.

Join us. The new semester begins in February.
