TRIREME: Education for the Future of Green and Digital Mobility

TRIREME is an Erasmus+ funded project supporting the green and digital transformation of the mobility, transport and automotive ecosystem through skills development, training and collaboration. As the sector evolves rapidly due to electrification, digitalisation and new mobility concepts, TRIREME helps ensure that Europe’s workforce has the skills and knowledge needed to stay competitive, innovative and resilient.

The project brings together industry, education and training providers, social partners, regions and other stakeholders to anticipate emerging skills needs and develop modern, flexible learning opportunities for workers and learners. TRIREME contributes to key European policy priorities, including the European Green Deal, the EU Digital Agenda and the European Skills Agenda, and supports the Pact for Skills in the mobility ecosystem.

TRIREME: Education for the Future of Green and Digital Mobility

What TRIREME does

TRIREME takes a holistic ecosystem approach to understanding how technological and market developments affect skills needs across the mobility value chain. The project monitors trends such as digitalisation, green sustainability and circular economy, resilience of value chains, and new business models. By translating these trends into concrete workforce requirements, TRIREME identifies gaps between industry needs and existing education and training provision.

Based on this intelligence, TRIREME develops a sector-wide skills strategy and roadmap and defines emerging and evolving occupational profiles. The project supports the design of innovative training solutions that can be used across universities, vocational education and training (VET), industry and lifelong learning. A strong focus is placed on modular and flexible learning formats that can be quickly updated and adapted to different technologies, regions and learner groups.

Pan-European Automotive-Mobility Academy and learning platform

A core outcome of TRIREME is the creation of a pan-European Automotive-Mobility Academy, supported by an online learning platform. The Academy links skills frameworks, occupational profiles and training opportunities, and provides structured learning pathways for individuals and organisations across Europe.

Training modules are designed in a modular format, enabling personalised learning journeys and rapid adaptation to technological change. TRIREME promotes micro-credentials and digital badges to support transparent recognition of learning outcomes across countries and sectors. The training framework is aligned with European reference systems such as ESCO, Europass and ECTS/ECVET to ensure quality, portability and recognition of skills.

Human-centred and socially inclusive transition

TRIREME places people at the centre of the green and digital transition. The project works closely with social partners, industry and education providers to ensure that training pathways are inclusive, accessible and aligned with real labour market needs. By addressing both technological and social aspects of transformation, TRIREME supports a fair transition that benefits workers, companies and regions across Europe.

Current achievements

TRIREME has already delivered a growing portfolio of results and resources that are publicly available for stakeholders, training providers and individuals interested in skills development in the mobility ecosystem.

Project deliverables, including analytical reports, methodologies, skills intelligence outputs and strategic documents, are published on the TRIREME website and provide valuable insights into emerging skills needs, sectoral trends and recommended actions for industry, education and policy stakeholders.

In parallel, TRIREME has developed - and will continue to expand - a curated porfolio of training modules addressing key topics related to the green and digital transformation of mobility. TRIREME courses are short, modular and stackable learning units that can be combined into curricula, training programmes or personalised learning pathways. They are designed to serve industry training, VET, higher education and lifelong learners. All courses are free of charge and co-created by universities, research organisations and industry partners to ensure relevance, quality and practical applicability.

To stay informed about new deliverables, training opportunities, events and project developments, stakeholders are invited to subscribe to the TRIREME newsletter.

Security does not begin with self-defence. It begins with attention.

Risks that, only a few years ago, seemed distant and abstract to much of society are becoming increasingly tangible. Geopolitical pressures, economic uncertainty, social tensions, cyber and information threats, and disruptions to systems we normally rely on are no longer confined to strategic documents – they are increasingly entering our professional, family and personal lives. The MSc. programme in Personal Security Strategy was created in response to this reality, offering a path towards greater preparedness, situational awareness and responsibility.
