Accounting Needs More Than Just Numbers: It Takes Courage and a Dash of AI

The Czech Republic is a software superpower. There are dozens of systems on the market, ranging from those for small freelancers to robust solutions for corporate giants. But how do you find your way around them without losing your mind?.

At the beginning of May, a special guest visited the grounds of STING University. At the invitation of Vice-Rector Pavel Semerád, Pavel Löffer from the company Ježek Software gave a presentation. During the lecture, he discussed with students why it is so difficult to choose the right system in the Czech Republic, a software superpower.

Efficiency Over the Price Tag

When choosing a new system, price is often the first thing mentioned. According to Löffer, however, this is actually the least important variable. The true measure is efficiency. "If the system saves you work, replaces a missing employee, or increases profit, then the eventual price is compensated many times over," he explains. The key is to find a tool that makes sense for your workflow—whether it is a classic desktop application or a modern cloud solution that allows you to work from anywhere.

The Trap of Conservatism

Did you know that nearly half of accounting system users (45%) are dissatisfied with their current software?. Yet, very few of them switch. The reason is the "force of habit" and the immense value of historical data. People would rather "grit their teeth" than risk the uncertainty of change. Nevertheless, modern tools now allow for data migration thanks to AI much faster and with a deeper understanding of the content than ever before.

The Dawn of Artificial Intelligence

AI in accounting is no longer science fiction. Pavel Löffer sees its benefits in three areas:

• Rapid Migration: Transforming and transferring data between systems with an understanding of its content.
• Interpretation of Results: AI sees more than just sums and differences; it can track trends and give numbers real meaning.
• Intelligent Support: A well-trained language model can provide answers directly during the operation of the software.

The Dream of Seamless Communication

The future should belong to digitalization and the easy sharing of data with public administration. Although current projects (such as the JMHZ) sometimes hit bureaucratic limits and effectively just wrap old forms in new packaging, the vision remains clear. The goal is a state where only necessary primary data is exchanged, which institutions then process themselves without burdening the entrepreneur.
