According to long-term statistics, almost every second university programme ends unsuccessfully. The reasons may vary. It may be because:

  • students are unable to meet academic requirements,
  • something happens in their lives that (temporarily) prevents them from continuing their studies, or
  • they enrolled in any programme simply to keep their student status for the current year.

Usually, when students end their studies for these reasons, their surroundings accept it and support them in further attempts.

However, students often encounter less understanding when they decide to end their studies on their own.

What if you realise you don’t want to work in that field?

It happens that after some time, students realise they do not want to pursue the field they are studying.

Such a restart of one’s student career may be a reasonable solution at that moment, although the decision should be considered carefully.

We all experience mood swings, and if we are in a difficult psychological state, it is easy to succumb to emotions after the first failure, for example in an exam.

On the other hand, spending 5 years at university just to fulfil your parents’ ambitions, only to end up doing something completely different, is not an effective solution.

If you manage to discover early on which activities suit you best, you may ultimately become more successful than those who climbed far up the career ladder only to realise after decades that they leaned their ladder against the wrong wall.

But it may also happen that you simply stop enjoying your studies

Sometimes students choose the right field, but their enthusiasm is taken away by the school itself. It may be because they dislike the anonymous environment, the lectures where they barely manage to write notes without having the opportunity to ask anything, etc.

At Sting University, we are well aware that we do not learn for school, but for life — something we have written directly in our logo (Latin: Non scholæ sed vitæ).

What does this mean in practice?

  • We involve professionals from the field in teaching, such as tax advisers and auditors, who will share their years of experience with you.
  • We are strongly oriented towards practice and create excellent conditions for it.
  • We show you modern tools for accounting, so you don’t have to spend your whole life manually rewriting documents into a computer — instead, you can make your work easier.
  • Teaching takes place in smaller groups, so you feel comfortable and can ask anything.
  • In some courses, we even offer hybrid teaching, allowing you to participate even when you cannot attend in person.
  • You receive maximum support and a welcoming environment from a university you will grow to love just like we do.

Controlling in the age of AI: why Excel alone is no longer enough and what to learn next

AI is changing the way companies work with data, plan for the future and make financial decisions. Does this mean that controlling or financial management is losing its importance? Quite the opposite.

Auditor vs. tax advisor: Which career will bring you higher income and better prospects?

Choosing between a career as an auditor and a tax advisor is one of the most important decisions students of economics-related fields can make. Both professions offer above-average financial compensation, high professional prestige, and wide career growth opportunities. At the same time, however, they are associated with demanding professional examinations, high requirements for expert knowledge, and periods of intense workload.

The End of Paper-Based Routine. Why Digitalization Is a Blessing for Accountants, Not a Threat

When people talk about professions being transformed by technology, many immediately feel uneasy. Accounting, however, is experiencing the exact opposite phenomenon: interest in the field is growing rapidly, and for thousands of people it represents a dream career anchor. But how is a profession that has been synonymous with binders and stamps for centuries adapting to the wave of digitalization? We discussed this at STING University with Jiří Hošek, Ph.D., a visionary in teleinformatics and CEO of Giri, the company behind the DocsPoint cloud platform.
