Financial literacy is no longer simply about managing money. In the age of artificial intelligence, it also requires critical thinking, responsible decision-making, information verification and an entrepreneurial mindset. Jana Merunková of yourchance and Jiří Koleňák, CEO of NEWTON University Group, explain why teachers will be central to this transformation.
How can we prepare young people for a world in which artificial intelligence is a routine part of everyday life? This question brought together 140 participants at the tenth Financially Literate and Entrepreneurial School conference, organised by yourchance at the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
Jana Merunková, founder and director of yourchance, highlighted that young people no longer see AI as separate from their daily lives. Financial education must therefore develop their ability to think critically, verify information and take responsibility for their decisions. In her view, fostering an entrepreneurial mindset is not about turning every child into an entrepreneur. It is about teaching young people to recognise opportunities, find solutions and take initiative.
Jiří Koleňák, CEO of NEWTON University Group, focused on the vital role played by teachers. He introduced a dedicated scholarship scheme for educators interested in pursuing an MBA. Through this initiative, NEWTON University aims to support proactive teachers who want to develop themselves, their schools and their pupils. A single teacher can become a catalyst for change and positively influence hundreds of young people.
