Learning from Industry Experts at Sting (Winter Semester 2024)

1. 2. 2025 NUG World Event Reports Taxes and Accounting

At Sting we connect theory with real-world practice. We place particular emphasis on practical experience, which is why we regularly invite experienced tax advisers, auditors, and representatives of the Czech Financial Administration to our classes.

In the winter semester, our guest experts included Jan Brantl, Natália Šenková, and Václav Čepelák.

Learning from Industry Experts at Sting (Winter Semester 2024)

Mergers and Acquisitions with Jan Brantl

If you have ever been involved in buying or selling a company, or if you are dealing with succession planning in a family business, you know that it is a complex process full of challenges.

We were therefore delighted that tax adviser and auditor Jan Brantl visited Sting to introduce our students to this demanding process.

Jan guided us through the individual stages step by step – from the preparation phase through to signing the agreement and final settlement.

Among other things, students learned what NDA, SPA, SPV, EV, and DD mean, what methods can be used to determine a company’s value, and why you should not employ Mr Buřt.

International Taxation with Natália Šenková

Are you interested in international taxation? Then you would certainly have enjoyed the lecture “Employee Mobility within the European Union”, delivered by tax adviser Natália Šenková.

Together, we explored topics such as tax residency, the exemption and credit methods, the “Emmental cheese” approach to reading double taxation treaties, assignment agreements, insurance, collective agreements, forms, and guidance documents.

Tax Disputes with Václav Čepelák

Tax disputes are an integral part of tax practice. We were therefore delighted that Václav Čepelák accepted our invitation.

During his lecture, we learned what (un)lawful requests look like, how tax proceedings work, what taxpayers need to provide to the tax authorities (and what they do not), what can trigger a tax inspection, and how to work with methodological guidance.

Do you enjoy the practical content of our lectures?

Do not miss the next ones.

Follow us to be among the first to hear about upcoming events. And if you are not yet one of our students or graduates, now is the perfect time to apply.
