Margareta Křížová tells Hrot how she and her friends started investing

When they first went to the bank, they were asking questions the staff rarely heard. They knew little about investing, but before long they were buying shares on the US stock market. Writing in Czech magazine Hrot, investor and NEWTON Business Accelerator founder Margareta Křížová recalls how she and her friends set up their own investment club.

Each member put in an amount she could afford to lose. Ten years later, they wound up the club, sold their holdings and shared the profits. They all still invest today.

In her contribution, ‘Children as an investment’, Křížová turns from those first share purchases to a more personal thought about growing older. Alongside financial security, there’s also the question of who we’ll have around us.

The piece appears in ‘Kde se rodí příležitosti zítřka?’ in Hrot’s Investiční kompas section, 4 November 2026, p. 64. Visit the Hrot magazine website
