You can set a gambling limit when you sign up. But if you’re keen to start playing, it’s easy to click past the prompt. Czech newspaper Deník reports on a NEWTON University study exploring when and how measures like these can help protect young adults from gambling harm.
Led by Petr Zimčík, the team plans to use an experimental setting to study how young adults respond to bonuses, offers that expire, changes to limits and breaks in play. NEWTON students will also take part in the research, bringing their own experience of online platforms to help the team understand what draws young adults to gambling and how they make decisions as they play.
NEWTON University received a €100,000 grant for the study from Allwyn’s international Player Protection Lab programme.
