NEWTON University Opens DOFE Centre: A Challenge for Students and the Public

26. 3. 2026 From NEWTON

NEWTON University has officially become an Open DOFE Centre. This means that the prestigious international award is now accessible not only to our university students but also to young people aged 13–24 from the wider community. We offer the resources, experienced mentors, and a supportive community for everyone ready to push their limits.

What is DOFE? A Journey, Not a Race

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DOFE) isn’t a competition to find the "best." It’s a long-term challenge where the only person you are competing against is your former self. The program is divided into three levels (Bronze, Silver, and Gold), motivating you in these key areas:

  • Voluntary Service: Helping others and making a difference in your community.
  • Physical Recreation: Improving your fitness and health.
  • Skills: Developing a talent or learning something entirely new.
  • Adventurous Journey: Pushing boundaries in nature with a team of friends.

Why does DOFE align with NEWTON University?

The connection between DOFE and NEWTON makes perfect sense. Our university has long focused on entrepreneurship, responsibility, and the ability to turn potential into concrete results. The DOFE program does exactly that in practice—it doesn’t just pass on theoretical knowledge; it leads participants to real action, discipline, and experiences that cannot be found in textbooks.

4 Key Benefits: What’s in it for you?

  1. Personal Growth and Perseverance: You learn to set goals and stick to them even when the initial excitement fades. In the real world, persistence is often more valuable than raw talent.
  2. Life Skills: DOFE strengthens independence, time management, and self-reflection. The Adventurous Journey also builds teamwork and resilience in unexpected situations.
  3. Internationally Recognized Certificate: Completing the program earns you a prestigious award held in high regard by employers and universities worldwide. It’s proof that you can commit to a long-term goal and see it through.
  4. Genuine Self-Confidence: The feeling that you have truly earned something builds a level of inner certainty that no motivational speech can provide.

'DOFE is one of the few activities today that doesn’t promise a shortcut, but real growth. It’s a space for those who want more than just to 'get through school'.'
