We’re Not Just Passing Through. Jiří Vávra on Leadership, Change and Business Therapy

What happens when a company’s strategy stops working, teams lose momentum and the leader becomes part of the problem? According to Jiří Vávra, another presentation or a new strategy document is not always the answer. Sometimes you need to confront reality, remove the barriers and make change actually happen.

Jiří Vávra, founder of CoMojo, former head of Deloitte NEXT’s innovation team and academic lead of the Strategy and Innovation in Business MBA programme at NEWTON University, takes a different approach to consulting. He describes his role as that of a consigliere, working alongside leaders when conventional solutions are no longer enough.

In an interview with Ekonomický magazín, he discusses why companies can become trapped by their own processes, how a leader’s ego can stand in the way of progress and why a strategy that people do not understand or believe in is little more than an expensive document. He also explains how these principles shape his teaching at NEWTON University, where students work with their own business cases and real changes they need to implement.
